About FTC
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a unique competition where participants build 18" robots to compete in 2v2 matches. Open to students in grades 7-12, students can gain hands-on experience in engineering, mechanics and software development by competing in FTC. With over 109,000 participants from 81 countries, more than 61% of participants declare a STEAM major.
Our Teams
DBS Robotics is the largest and most successful FIRST Robotics (FTC and FRC) programme in Hong Kong. Home to 11 FTC teams who regularly compete at local and international competitions, DBS Robotics has been Champions at the FTC Hong Kong Championships for the past 3 years. Students in Team Sigma participate in FTC to hone their mechanical skills. This offers them an opportunity to prepare themselves for the more rigorous and intense FRC competitions, ensuring competitive excellence at both levels.

2026 Decode
In the 2026 season, we sent three of our less experienced teams - 23723 Squirtle, 23725 Blastoise, 23727 Dynamax Blastoise to represent DBS Robotics at the Hong Kong Regional. The teams made massive improvements as they participated in the competition. 23723 Squirtle won the Control Award and emerged as Champions, securing the three-peat for DBS Robotics. 23725 Blastoise made it to the finals and captured the Finalist Alliance Award. 23727 Dynamax Blastoise, a team fully comprised of rookies, experienced immense growth throughout the competition and gained invaluable experience at their first ever competition. Most surprisingly, they won the Reach Award, serving as a testament to the progress they have made.
2025 Into The Deep
Our teams 23070 Royal Turtles and 23730 Duong Invaders competed at the Hong Kong Regional in the 2025 season. Joining forces, we managed to receive the Winning Alliance Award for the second straight year. Moreover, Royal Turtles also won the Machine, Creativity and Innovation Award. As the season progressed, we hosted the first-ever FTC offseason competition in Hong Kong - Royal Rumble. Seven of our FTC teams participated in this event where Royal Turtles ultimately rose above the rest and became the champions. After a short break, our two premiere FTC teams 23070 Royal Turtles and 23732 Peasant Rabbits competed at the European Premier Event. Remarkably, our teams captained alliance 3 and 5 respectively - our highest ever alliance captaincy. Peasant Rabbits also ranked 43rd in the world in Autonomous scoring while Royal Turtles won Motivate Award 2nd place. At the end of the event, the two teams placed 301 and 336 out of 8070 FTC teams worldwide respectively. Thus, demonstrating our ability to compete with some of the best teams in the world while further cementing the excellence of our FTC program.
2024 Centerstage
In the 2024 Centerstage season, our teams 23070 Royal Turtles and 23732 Peasant Rabbits competed at three different competitions. As a result, we experienced one of our most successful seasons ever. At the Hong Kong Regional, we captured the Grand Slam (Winning Alliance & Inspire Award), cementing our status as the best FTC team in Hong Kong. Later in July, we competed at the Asia Pacific Open Championships. Royal Turtles were the Overall Champions (Inspire Award) at the event while Peasant Rabbits won the Think Award. In our final FTC competition of the 2024 season, the World Robot Contest Championships, Royal Turtles captured the Inspire Award once again. This season showcased our strong capabilities as we became one of the best teams in the Asia Pacific Region.

2023 Powerplay
In one of our first seasons in FTC, we competed at the Hong Kong Regionals and Asia Pacific Open Championships as Rio 2.0. During the season, we exchanged with other FTC teams in Hong Kong such as Starburst 28784. These exchanges provided us with valuable insights and facilitated our team development. As a result, we captured the Finalist Alliance Award and the Inspire Award Finalist at the Hong Kong Regional. Travelling to Australia for the Asia Pacific Open Championships, our first major competition after the Covid Pandemic, we were awards the Control Award, serving as a testament to the remarkable progress the team has gone through.
